WELCOME TO YEAR 5
Our Curriculum 2024-2025
There are two Y5 classes:
5JG with Mr Giles and Mrs Hunt and 5GC with Mrs Carey and Mrs Fenton. 
This term our Topic in Geography will be on Mountains. In Science we are focusing on the properties and changes to materials.
Maths homework is sent home every Wednesday and should be returned to school by the following Monday.
Pieces of History/Geography or Science homework should be completed each week and returned to school on Mondays.
PE Days:

Friday (Outside)
Try and make sure you have your PE kit in school everyday, just in case this changes. You can leave your kit in your locker.

Times Table Rock Stars
All children have log in details for Times Tables Rock Stars. We would like them to play on the site as often as possible. They don't have to play for long, little and often sometimes works best. We will be choosing a Rock Star of the week in each class for children who have made the most effort/progress across the week, and will sometimes have "battles" where classes play each other.
Reading
As always, reading at home remains crucial. Please encourage you child to read at home daily, preferably to you. Please record in your child’s reading record whenever this happens. If your child reads to themselves, they should write in their record too (perhaps some thoughts on what they have read, or what they think might happen next), a sentence or two would be plenty.
