Our Reading Ambassadors
We value the views of our children about their school experiences and their learning. This year we have expanded our small team of Year 6 pupils, who are our designated Reading Ambassadors, with pupils from Year 5 to allow for greater role continuity year on year. The Reading Ambassador position is a coveted role which the children apply for.
Typically, our Reading Ambassadors are responsible for monitoring the library and keeping it organised, reading with younger children in school to promote reading for pleasure, and promoting reading across school by taking part in events such as World Book Week. New initiatives are planned for this coming year including opportunities to contribute to School Library displays and a new School Library newsletter.
In addition, this year will see all our Reading Ambassadors taking part in the Library Ambassador Programme in partnership with Worcestershire Libraries. This exciting opportunity will allow our Reading Ambassadors to develop new skills, and build their confidence, independence and leadership skills. They will meet regularly with staff from Malvern Library to organise reading activities for their fellow pupils to promote a love of reading.
The programme also has the aim of developing a strong relationship between the school and it’s local public library, and to raise awareness of library services across the whole school community.
