WELCOME TO YEAR 5
We hope you have had a fantastic summer and we are looking forward to hearing all about your adventures and telling you a bit about ours! This year in Class 5PB the teachers are Mrs Perry (on a Monday, Tuesday and Friday) and Mrs Bennett (on a Wednesday and Thursday) with Mrs Downes teaching on a Friday afternoon. We are also extremely excited to have the wonderful Mrs Kay returning to work as the teaching assistant in the class in the mornings. In Class 5H Mr Hulls will be teaching with Mrs Abba as the teaching assistant.
Throughout the Autumn term in Year 5 and 6 we will be learning all about the Victorians.
Throughout the topic we will be learning about -
*When they lived
* How they lived
* Who they were
* The impact they had on the whole country
* What school would have been like
In English we will be researching Queen Victoria, using the book 'Street child' by Berlie Doherty and after half term reading some Charles Dickens classics including 'Oliver Twist' and a 'Christmas Carol' in the run up to the festive period. We will also be looking at the art work of William Morris and will be homing our sewing skills creating a cushion in this artistic style.
In 5PB we voted for a class text to read throughout this term and the children voted for...
By Peter Bunzl. Both Mrs Perry and Mrs Bennett can not wait to start reading it with you all!
Keep an eye out on here and via our twitter page for regular updates and plenty of photos of our learning as it happens!
