At Great Malvern Primary School, we have built our curriculum around our aim to nurture and develop successful young people, who are ready for the next stage in their education and to make a positive contribution beyond.
Our curriculum is designed to develop this ambition by engaging and inspiring our learners through stimulating and challenging topics, and through offering experiences which enrich their time at our school. Providing our pupils with opportunities to compete, debate and be creative, as well as developing the important themes of resilience, self-motivation and commitment.
In addition, in recognition of the context of the starting points of many of our children, we have a strong focus on the teaching and learning of Maths and English, as gaining skills in these areas is fundamental to academic achievement and broadening opportunity for future careers.
Our curriculum recognises that children need different starting points and experiences to be fully engaged and achieve their potential.

Aspirational | We have high expectations for all our children and encourage them to be the best that they can be. Our curriculum is designed to inspire our children to succeed and develop into articulate, confident individuals by broadening their experiences and opportunities. We aim to develop skills, knowledge, and enjoyment; building resilience as well as appreciating and respecting the world we live in. |
Linked | Carefully planned and focused sequences of learning with clear progressions are the basis of our curriculum. Strong connections are developed to build themes and concepts with a focus on vocabulary being key for our children, with time to discuss, and build confidence, as well as understanding. Wider opportunities are planned for and embedded into our curriculum. |
Inclusive | Our curriculum is designed to develop knowledge, skills and understanding for everyone. Our children participate at the appropriate level with the right amount of challenge, differentiation and support to ensure that they succeed. All pupils are given equal opportunities. Equality, tolerance, diversity, teamwork, and accessibility are all embedded to ensure an inclusive curriculum. |
Varied | We ensure that a range of activities and opportunities are intrinsic to our curriculum - offering hook days, forest school, educational visits and residentials, as well as speakers and numerous other events in school. We aim to bring our curriculum alive with this thread of enrichment that runs through the school, with learning outside of the classroom being key. This is supported and aided by a wide range of equipment, and different approaches to immerse the children in their learning. |
Engaging | Maximising every opportunity to ensure curiosity for learning is woven into a purposeful, accessible, and memorable curriculum. Providing engaging texts, equipment and experiences ensures a high quality, personalised curriculum for our children throughout their journey through school, inspiring each child to be their absolute best. |
