Great Malvern Primary School

Working together for success

Pupil Parliament and Eco Council

Pupil Parliament

Pupil Parliament at Great Malvern Primary School promotes pupil leadership opportunities, enabling children to develop valuable communication, organisation and debating skills through key roles of responsibility and new experiences. This structure is an ideal opportunity for 12 pupils from Year 1 to Year 6 to be actively involved in the way that the school is run. Pupil Parliament benefits the whole school including pupils and teachers because it provides opportunities for pupils to communicate their opinions as well as influence the decisions that are made on their behalf. Pupils relish the opportunity to become a greater part of school life and enjoy making their voices heard.

Our fabulous Pupil Parliament Council for 2023/2024

Our Parliament Council meet each half term to discuss school related topics and issues. During this academic year we have help 'drop in' sessions where pupils can come to discuss school related issues and we have recently finished completing a school evaluation document. This will be shared with our school leadership team to make sure that they have a clear understanding of the views and needs of our pupils.

During the Autumn term we will be completing 'The Big Ambition' questionnaire set to all schools by Dame Rachel De Souza, the Children's Commissioner for England.

Eco Council

What is Eco Council?

Eco Council is a group of pupils who meet each month to discuss eco friendly and environmental issues within school which prepares children to live their future lives with consideration for global issues. There is one eco councillor from each class in Key Stage 1 and 2.

Why do we have an Eco Council?

-To ensure our school is eco-friendly and prepares pupils to live with reflection of the environment.

-To make sure each class has a platform to voice their opinions.

-To discuss and raise issues related to the environment.

Our Priorities this academic year:

With the cost of energy rising, we will be continuing to ensure that we are being energy smart both at school and at home.  This will include us making posters and reminders for in school as well as talking in assembly to make everybody aware of what they need to do to save energy. We will also be working with the other Eco Councils from across our MET schools.
