Spring 2014

We have all settled back into school and had a great Autumn term. All the children have really enjoyed getting to grips with Read, Write Inc in the classroom especially the celebrations.

This term we are getting ready to do our class assembly to the whole school. We are keeping the theme a secret but we are telling a story that we have written together. I am hoping that Mrs Collins will film so we can watch it in class.

Zee is continuing with his assessment to be a registered therapy dog but this has been put on hold for a while as he injured his tail. He has to take a trip to the vets each week and they are bandaging his tail with a range of different bandages. At the moment it has tractors on but my favourite was the yellow bandage with red chickens.

Keep an eye out for pictures of our assembly. I will put them on here in the near future.

Remeber to bring in your reading book EVERY day.

Summer 2013

WOW its the summer term already!!!

The good news in the Language Centre is that the bungalow is now all finished and looking fantastic. We have a bigger working area as the office has been moved and a fresh coat of paint on the walls as well as lovely new purple carpet!

This term we have started a new phonics scheme call "Read, Write Inc" and so far the children are loving it. If your lucky they may give you a "marshmallow clap" or a "whoosh" when you do something good!!

Zee has settled well and enjoys seeing all the children in school. He is very gentle with the children and is extremely calm for a puppy of his age. It can take 10mins to walk across the playground at break time as he likes to stop and get stroked by every child who wants to on the way over.
He starts his assessment to become a registered PAT dog (Pets Are
Therapy) soon and I will keep you up to date on his progress.

Magz and Zee are enjoying the new office!

Remember
Please try and read with your child as often as possible and extend their language and vocabulary by talking about things you see or do together.

Happy Summer Term - Mrs Selby and Mrs Jenkins

January 2013
Due to essential building works on the bungalow this term we are based in the mainschool. We are in a cosy new room that we are settling into and decorating with some fantastic work.

Welcome to the Language Unit!

The Language Unit at Great Malvern School is a unique setting giving children with a range of speech and language difficulties additional support within a mainstream environment.

Children come from within the school and from local primary schools for part time sessions. During this time they have daily speech and language therapy from trained staff and weekly input from a speech and language therapist. The children benefit from working in a small group and follow the curriculum depending on their year group.

Have you seen the Kids' Zone? Play games, and visit some cool websites. You can vote for your favourites!
